Thomas Joseph “Tom” Mitchell, 74, of Westminster, died Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the BridgingLife Dove House surrounded by his loving family. Born April 18, 1951 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George Thomas Mitchell and Mildred Delaney Mitchell. He was the devoted husband of Yvonne Nance Mitchell, married for over 50 years. Tom retired after 45 dedicated years from Baltimore Gas and Electric, where he served as a Project Manager. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady leadership, and pride in a job well done. Tom enjoyed the game of golf. In his early years, he caddied at Rolling Road Golf Club and continued to play throughout his life, especially cherishing the time spent on the course with family and friends. Tom loved working with his hands and could often be found building furniture, crafting corn hole boards, or tackling home renovations and additions as a side business. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix or improve. He especially enjoyed spending time at the beach and by his pool, hosting gatherings, and having a cold one to celebrate life’s special moments with loved ones. Above all, Tom will be remembered for his generous spirit, his steadiness, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His presence will be profoundly missed, but the memories he built, like the many things he crafted are strong, lasting, and made with care. In addition to his wife Yvonne, Tom is survived by his son, Michael, husband of Annie Mitchell; daughters, Megan, wife of Scott Buete; Tricia, wife of Jeremiah Hall; and sister, Mary Jo, wife of Frank Burja. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael and Taylor Mitchell; Bodi and Sully Buete; Regan and Brody Hall; nephews Tom Burja and wife Laura Burja, great nephew and niece Callan and Lucy Burja; Jim Burja and wife Lacey Burja, great nephews Joe and Nate Burja; and Steven Burja and wife Lauren Burja. In addition to many extended family including nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 7th from 4-8 PM at Salerno's Restaurant, 1043 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, Maryland. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Maryland is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
